Online Stock Market Trading Now in its eighth year, the Luther College Habitat for Humanity
(LCHFH) organization will be sending a record number of students on
trips throughout the United States over
Spring Break. Fifty-five Luther
students will depart on March 17 for either Oregon, New Mexico,
or Virginia to help build houses for Habitat for Humanity
International (HFHI).
This year each student paid $200 for the trip. A portion of the money went to the Habitat for Humanity fund to support future projects. Habitat for Humanity is a nationwide organization that reaches out to communities each year. Stock Investing Course These trips are part of the HFHI Collegiate Challenge, a
year-round program, in partnership with AmeriCorps National
Civilian Community Corps (NCCC), in which college students travel
throughout the country to more than 170 sites to help build houses,
either starting a new house from scratch or renovating an older
home, while also pledging to raise more than $800,000 to build
Habitat homes. Over 8,500 students from over 400 colleges,
universities and high schools nationwide will be leaving school not
to head to the beach but to pitch in at the construction sites as
Collegiate Challenge 2000 runs from Feb. 27 through April 22.

HFHI and its 1,916 affiliates in 64 nations have built and sold
homes to partner families at no profit with zero-interest
mortgages.
Habitat for Humanity regional director David Jansen said families would be selected based on need and their desire to improve their lives and conditions. "Habitat for Humanity's approach is holistic, idealistic and realistic. It brings people together, but also empowers and uplifts the people of SA, " said Jansen.

would be a great experience," Christian said. "I'm excited about
being given the chance to make a real difference in somebody else's
life."
Stock Investing Software The mission of HFHI is "to eliminate poverty housing and
homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of
conscience and action." The organization has built more than 85,000
houses worldwide, which have provided more than 425,000 people with
affordable shelter.

homeowners of the house on which they are working. According to the
HFHI webpage, , "homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own
labor-sweat equity-into building their Habitat house and the houses
of others." Habitat homeowners are chosen by their willingness to
participate in the program and their ability to pay the non-profit,
no-interest loan. The cost of HFHI houses ranges between $1,800 in
developing countries and $42,500 in the United States.
Stock Investing For Dummy The Luther College affiliate of HFH has approximately 20 active
members, led by president Jeremy Freeman ('01), who joined the
organization as a freshman when he saw its booth at the SAC
Activity Fair.
Stock Market Crash "I really enjoy helping others and building things with my
hands, so HFH seemed like the ideal organization to join," said
Freeman.
Stock Investing Tip This year, the LCHFH helped with the Winneshiek County HFH
(WCHFH) Can Mountain Day fund-raiser and participated in the WCHFH
blitz build, in which volunteers worked hard to build a house in
just one weekend. This December, they held the first annual
Shack-A-Thon, an awareness event in which LCHFH members spent a
winter night in cardboard boxes.
