Singapore Airlines to Match Qantas Bid for Boeing Jets

Online Stock Market Trading By Randy Chen

Qantas Airways is Australia’s largest domestic and international airline and the world’s second oldest airline. Qantas flies to 143 domestic and international destinations in Australia, Asia and the Pacific, the Americas, Europe and Africa. Qantas is also one of the world’s safest airlines, ensuring its passengers the highest level of safety.

Stock Investing Course (AXcess News) Hong Kong - In a move to match Singapore Airlines (SGX: SIA) rival, Qantas Airlines, SIAis rumored to be buying 80 long-range jetliners from Boeing (NYSE: BA). AXcess News has been unable to substantiate SIA's Boeing order.

In October 2000, a young woman in excellent health disembarked from a Qantas jet in London and collapsed in the arrival hall at Heathrow. Emma Christoffersen had spent twenty hours traveling, first taking a seven and a half hour flight from Sydney to Singapore, and then, over, taking a thirteen and a half hour flight from Singapore to London. Her shocking death was due to a blood clot or Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT).

Stock Market Game SIA is considering buying more of Boeing's 777-200LR and a significant number ofBoeing's new787 Dreamliners along with up to six 747-Advance freighters. If the SIA order for Boeing airplanes comes through, it would push the US airplane manufacturer to the top manufacturer's slot against rival Arbus SAS this year.

Boeing%š 787 %Òreamliner% is slated to take wing in 2007, jet in commercial service a little under three years from now. Current State of the Airlines U.S. airlines are different from you, me and other types of companies. Most of them are broke. Some are bankrupt. And their financial woes seem to drag on longer than a jet caught in a holding pattern on a busy travel holiday.

Stock Investing Game Boeing's fuel-efficient 301-seat B777-200LR can fly 19 hours or more than 17,000 kms without refueling, a strong point in SIA's consideration in competing with Qantas Airlines.

Longreach was also one of the founding centres for the Australian domestic and international airline, Qantas. One of the airlines original hangars is still in use at the Longreach Airport. The town now houses the Qantas Founders Outback Museum, which has amongst its displays, 200 aircraft.

Journal Prime Rate Street Wall SIA had previously ordered 19 Boeing 777-300ERs, with an option to buy 13 more. What US newspapers are reporting as a bid for more Boeing airplanes could be its plans to exercisethose outstanding Boeing 777-300ERoptions, though Boeing would most likely not be able to deliver the additional 777-300ERs as early as Qantas' order. Boeing had stated early this month that it had reserved Qantas' airplanes in its delivery plans in anticipation of that order. An SIA order for more Boeing long-range airplaneswould not have been planned for by Boeing in its delivery schedule slatted to begin in 2008.

Expedia Australia offers flights on the best airlines from Singapore, and all around the world. From it’s beginnings as a regional airline, Singapore Airlines has grown into one of the world's top airlines. Singapore airways currently flies passengers to 64 cities in 35 countries including Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa and North America.

Stock Market News SIA had ordered 10 Airbus A380s with 15 more under option and concerns over EU manufacturing deadlines by Airbus SAS could have swayed SIA's consideration to up its Boeing airplane order due to engineering issues Airbus is facing. Airbus SAS is also in talks with China over locating some of its assembly work in China and the uncertainty of that move may have added to Singapore Airlines consideration in ordering more Boeing jetliners.

Stock Investing Basics Shares of Singapore Airlines were unchanged at S11.90 Friday on the Singapore Stock Exchange.

Stock Investing Software Boeing shares were up 17 cents at $71.49 at the close of trading in New York. In after-hours trading, Boeing's shares climbed 16 cents.
