English Faculty to Give Readings

Online Stock Market Trading Three faculty members from the English Department will read from recently published books at two upcoming book signing events.

Whereas the Faculty Office Calendars give the full names of both parties (albeit sometimes in abbreviated form), General Calendars give only surnames.

Stock Investing Course Tony Magistrale, professor of English, will read from and sign copies of his new book, Hollywoods Stephen King, Friday, Oct. 31 from 10 am. to 1 p.m. at the UVM Bookstore. The book brings together for the first time a detailed analysis of the major cinematic translations of Kings work, from The Green Mile, Misery and Carrie to lesser-known works.

The Reading Room now incorporates the letter sounds and word blends, learned in the first two reading skills environments, into new words and progressively builds your child's ability to read complete English sentences and short stories with ease. Progressively over the 100 lessons the following exercises are presented. All new elements taught in any given lesson are incorporated into the last Reading Room exercise, Story Reading. The reading program short stories contain the equivalent content of dozens of children's early reading books.

Stock Market Game Magistrale explores how Hollywood has translated Kings fiction into both spectacular successes and celluloid disasters. He also shares a revealing interview he conducted with the best-selling horror author last June.

With the Faculty Office Calendars this error is usually immediately obvious since the full names are given and the order can be (and has been) corrected.

Stock Investing Game Eve Alexandra and Philip Baruth will read from their new books Thursday, Nov. 6, at 5 p.m. in Memorial Lounge, Waterman. Baruth, associate professor of English, will read from his novel, The X President, and English lecturer Alexandra will read from her prize-winning Drowned Girl: Poems.
