Factiva Unveils a Range of Powerful Tools to Combat Politically Exposed Person (PEP) Risk

Unique new PEP Risk Score Tool to Improve Risk Management Capabilities

New York, NY (June 28, 2006) Factiva, a Dow Jones and Reuters Company, today announced new enhancements to Factiva Public Figures & Associates (PFA), including a market-first PEP Risk Score tool. The authoritative PFA global database contains profiles of more than 500,000 senior Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs), their relatives and close associates as well as extensive coverage of international sanctions and law enforcement lists.
The enhancements provide compliance professionals with new search, results-processing and administrator capabilities to better help them mitigate the risk associated with money laundering.

Factiva Public Figures & Associates has become the industry benchmark for global Politically Exposed Person coverage. Three of the five largest North American financial institutions and five of the seven largest global financial institutions now use and trust Factiva enterprise-wide with their anti-money-laundering controls, said Claude Green, interim CEO, Factiva.

The enhancements to Factiva Public Figures & Associates include:

* A PEP Risk Score Tool: a new capability unique to the marketplace, which enables a central administrator to set and maintain Politically Exposed Person risk guidance via a combination of criteria. The risk information is automatically generated in the PEP record and provides guidance to compliance staff as to how the account should be treated in accordance with the organizations risk management strategy.
* PEP Definition Filter: allows clients to customize the Factiva Public Figures & Associates PEP definition to their local business and regulatory environment, thus facilitating efficient screening.
* News Research: The newest offering in the Factiva Public Figures & Associates line is PFA Research. This offering builds on Factivas experience in negative media searching and enables users of Factiva Public Figures & Associates to carry out seamless checks of the entire Factiva news archive - an unrivalled collection of more than 10,000 authoritative sources.
* Enhanced User Experience: new functionality to Factiva Public Figures & Associates enables clients to add new search parameters, allowing users to adjust the precision and breadth of their search. They can also exclude search filters, saving time when searching for and processing the results.

The new PEP risk tools reflect the market feedback and experience we have gained over the five years weve been helping clients address this unique type of risk, continued Mr. Green. PEPs are unique because financial institutions are not prohibited from dealing with them but the business impact can be significant if the organization is found to be dealing with a bad PEP. Given the increasing demands on busy compliance departments, the PEP Risk Score tool enables institutions to ensure that they carry out adequate background due diligence and monitoring in accordance with their understanding of the markets and risk tolerances.
