Fastest Growing Website Selling Mexico's Tourism

September 2004 (Newstream) -- LocoGringo.com, rated by the Wall Street Journal the best online reservation site for getaways to Mexico's Riviera Maya is also Mexico's fastest growing travel website and booking agent.
With sales in 1999 of a bit more than $400,000, LocoGringo is slated to achieve sales of nearly $4 million in 2004, nearly $7 million in 2005 and almost $10 in 2006 according to Kay Walten, co-owner of LocoGringo.com, a privately held US company.

"We are working to pace our growth with staff additions as we do not want to lose the personal touch. The privately owned company's repeat business is "well north of 25%", Ms. Walten notes.

The active website, which features daily changes and a monthly newsletter, often features resorts whose rates the same or below what the major discounters such as Expedia or Travelocity advertise, Ms. Walten notes. But of even greater significance, she says, is that her inventory includes off the beaten path properties that exude charm, authenticity and special services for the same or lower rates than three and four star high rise hotels with hundreds of rooms.
