ValueClick Announces Fourth Quarter and Full Year 2004 Results; Reports Record Revenue and Operating

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 17, 2005--ValueClick, Inc. (Nasdaq:VCLK) today reported financial results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year ended December 31, 2004. Performance in the fourth quarter of 2004 exceeded the Company's previously issued guidance for revenue, fully diluted net income per share, and net income before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA)(1).
For the quarter ended December 31, 2004, ValueClick reported revenue of $54.4 million, an increase of $24.1 million, or 80 percent, from revenue of $30.3 million for the fourth quarter of 2003. Fourth quarter 2004 results include a full quarter of operations from Commission Junction and Hi-Speed Media, both acquired in December 2003, and a full quarter of operations from Pricerunner.com, acquired in August 2004. Fourth quarter 2003 results include a full quarter of operations from ValueClick Japan, which was sold in March 2004.

Online Stock Market Trading Fourth quarter 2004 income before taxes and minority interest was $15.9 million compared to $5.3 million for the fourth quarter of 2003. Net income for the fourth quarter of 2004 was $13.5 million, or $0.16 per diluted common share, compared to $5.3 million, or $0.07 per diluted common share, for the fourth quarter of 2003. Fourth quarter 2004 EBITDA of $17.5 million was an improvement compared to $6.7 million for the fourth quarter of 2003.

    Operating income for fourth quarter 2006 increased 10% to $39.9 million compared to $36.2 million reported for the same period in 2005.

  • Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization ("EBITDA") year 2006 increased 15% to $176 million from $153 million in 2005. EBITDA for fourth quarter 2006 was $42.3 million, an increase of 10% compared to $38.5 million reported for the same period in 2005.
  • Franchising revenues and total revenues increased 14% year 2006.

Stock Investing Course For the fiscal year ended December 31, 2004, ValueClick reported revenue of $169.2 million, an increase of approximately $76.7 million, or 83 percent, from revenue of $92.5 million for fiscal year 2003. Fiscal year 2004 results include a full year of operations from Commission Junction and Hi-Speed Media, both acquired in December 2003, five months of operations from Pricerunner.com, acquired in August 2004, and three months of operations from ValueClick Japan, which was sold in March 2004. Fiscal 2003 results include seven months of operations of Search123, acquired in May 2003, and one month of operations of Commission Junction, acquired in early December 2003.

Housing Group Results The Housing Group recorded a threefold increase in operating income for the second quarter to $4.7 million on revenues of $149.7 million, compared with operating income of $1.4 million on revenues of $147.0 million for the same quarter of the prior year. For the first half of the fiscal year, operating income for the Housing Group advanced to $9.7 million on $293.9 million in revenues, up from $3.5 million on revenues of $292.6 million for the first six months of last year.

Stock Market Game Fiscal year 2004 income before taxes and minority interest was $47.2 million compared to $10.6 million for fiscal year 2003. Net income for fiscal year 2004 was $40.1 million, or $0.48 per diluted common share, compared to $9.8 million, or $0.13 per diluted common share, for fiscal year 2003. EBITDA was $54.0 million for fiscal year 2004 compared to $14.8 million for fiscal year 2003.

Nuance reported fiscal fourth quarter revenues of $61.9 million, a 47 percent increase over revenues of $42.0 million in the quarter ended September 30, 2004. Nuance recognized a net loss of $7.7 million, or $0.06 per share, in the quarter ended September 30, 2005 compared with a net loss of $6.2 million, or $0.06 per share, in the comparable period 2004. These GAAP figures include revenues and expenses associated with the acquisition of the former Nuance for the period following September 16, 2005.

Stock Investing Game The consolidated balance sheet remained strong with $243 million in cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities, $236 million in working capital and $330 million in total stockholders' equity as of December 31, 2004.

ScanSoft reported fourth quarter 2001 revenues of $18.9 million, a 35 percent increase over fourth quarter 2000 revenues of $14.0 million. Income from operations for the fourth quarter of 2001 was $4.6 million, fold increase over operating income of $0.6 million reported during the same period a year ago. Net income before intangibles was $4.7 million, or $0.08 per diluted share, compared with net income before intangibles of $0.4 million, or $0.01 per share, for the fourth quarter of 2000. related intangibles. After including this item, ScanSoft reported a net loss of $2.4 million, or $0.04 per share, in the fourth quarter of 2001 compared with a net loss of $6.2 million, or $0.13 per share, for the fourth quarter of 2000. ScanSoft's operational cash flows for the fourth quarter were $4.4 million.
