Disney In The Hunt
Online Stock Market Trading In an article published in the Wall Street Journal today, sources at Disney revealed the company plans to pony up more cash to develop games based on their franchises. The company is looking to especially increase its investment in hand-held titles and acquisitions to bolster Disney's standing in that arena are possible.
Andy Mooney, the chairman of Disney's consumer product unit, stated that the company plans to spend an extra $40 million per year on the development of franchise titles like Pirates of the Caribbean and The Chronicles of Narnia.
Mooney also went on to say that Disney would likely only seek to purchase small to mid-size companies. He believed the asking price on some of the larger, more well known publishers were just too high. No specific companies were named as possible targets for a Disney acquisition.
